 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A fast paced start to the game saw Tyler with a couple of early threats towards the Harford goal including a corner kick that was headed right at Crystal Kline in the sixth minute.
  • The Fighting Owls looked dangerous on the counter attack early, especially down the right side as Kasie Lambert made great runs. In the 15th minute, a long ball by Rachel Bohli found Lambert behind the Tyler left back with her cross finding the right foot of Briana Stabile as her powerful shot sailed high.
  • Harford's counter attack proved deadly in the 21st minute as Alexandria Adams intercepted the ball in midfield and drove it all the way down the field. She found Rachel Bohli on the right side who cut it towards the middle and hit an incredible left footed shot into the top left corner of the net.
  • Adams almost doubled the lead three minutes later as her audacious 25 yard shot put a dent in the post and bounced harmlessly away.
  • Alecia Rotunno forced the Tyler keeper into action in the 32nd minute when her 35 yard free kick looked destined for the top of the net if not for the gloved hands getting in the way.
  • The Apaches, typically an excellent team at passing out of their back line, were caught with a bad turnover in their own zone which resulted in a hard shot by Adams to the near post that was saved.
  • Tyler came right back the other way and a good cross was slapped away by the sprawling Kline to knock it away.
  • Early in the second half, Tyler came right at Harford with a couple of dangerous corner kicks followed by a free kick just outside of the box in the middle of the field that was hit just wide.
  • With the Apaches continuing to get the better possession, Harford relied on the counter attack for opportunities. Mackenzie Wills was able to create a chance as her run past the defense in the 58th minute allowed some space for Bohli to take a long shot that just flew over the cross bar.
  • Another good Tyler chance was thwarted in the 60th minute when a ball into the box looked like an open shot for the Apaches, but Grace Humes threw her body in the way to block the shot and stave off the pressure once more.
  • Tyler had another corner kick that caromed off the near side post, bounced to the top of the box and allowed an Apache midfielder to get a shot off that went very high.
  • Another chance for Tyler came on a through ball as the Apache forward was free on goal, but a low shot was expertly parried away by Kline.
  • With time running down, Kassie Dieter made an entrance into the game as Harford changed to a five back line in an effort to close out the game.
  • A stroke of bad luck cost the Fighting Owls with just four minutes left as a corner kick led to a shot that was saved brilliantly by Kline, only to have to ball bounce off the ground and into a Harford player's arm. The side referee spotted the foul and a penalty kick was awarded then scored to tie the game at 1-1.
  • It took just one minute of overtime to decide the game as a long shot by Tyler took an unlucky deflection off a Harford defender. Kline made a diving attempt to keep the ball out, but was unable to do so as the side referee judged the ball to have crossed the line to end Harford's incredible season.
  • Harford's Alexandria Adams was named to the All-Tournament team and was one of just two players who earned that honor from a team that did not make it through to the semifinals.
