 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With the injury to Dahnye Redd causing her to not be available in the contest, Harford turned to Ryan Holder to lead the way as she spent the majority of the game attacking the rim as she scored 10 points in the paint and another six from the charity stripe in the first half.
  • The Harford defense was stifling in the first 10 minutes, forcing 12 turnovers from the Mustangs as the Fighting Owls jumped out to a seven point lead.
  • Monroe fought back with an 8-0 run over a 40 second stretch to take their first lead of the game before Tianna Swearinger hit a mid-range jumper followed by a Janiece Loney three pointer to regain the lead for Harford.
  • With Harford ahead 35-33 at halftime, the Mustangs came out of the intermission to take a lead before Harford responded with an 8-0 run capped by a Destinee McQueen steal and layup.
  • The second half continued to be dictated by runs as Monroe went on a 9-0 run, then Harford scored seven straight with Monroe matching that to take a 57-54 lead with 4:20 left in the fourth quarter.
  • Swearinger again came up big with a three pointer to tie the game which led Harford going on a 12-2 run with Adrienne Jones knocking down a three pointer to ice the game for the Fighting Owls.
  • Holder once again did an amazing job in filling the stat sheet, closing the book with 22 points, seven rebounds, seven steals, five blocks and three assists.
  • McQueen pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the team while Swearinger scored 13 points and Jones adding 11.
