Louisburg Bests Harford in Weekend Series

Harford loses all four games in trip to North Carolina

  • The Short Story: The Harford softball team team traveled to North Carolina to take on a strong Louisburg team and lost all four games the teams played over the weekend. 
HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1
  • The Fighting Owls watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-0 loss.
  • Louisburg took an early lead in the first inning then scored seven runs in the third inning.
  • One bright spot for the Fighting Owls was Samantha Znamirowski going 2-2 in the game.
  • Emily Bowler took the loss for Fighting Owls. She went four innings, allowing 12 runs, ten hits, and striking out three.
GAME 2
  • Louisburg scored eight runs in the third inning to put the Hurricanes well ahead.
  • A double by Julia Gatch in the second inning was one of the few offensive opportunities for Harford.
  • Alexis Valentine took the loss for Fighting Owls. She went four innings, allowing 11 runs, and ten hits.
GAME 3
  • Louisburg took an early lead in the second inning, adding three more in the fifth and two in the sixth as Harford had better luck keeping the Hurricanes close.
  • Harford's bats continued to struggle against the arms from Louisburg as they collected four hits in the game.
  • Emily Bowler took the loss for Fighting Owls. She tossed four innings, giving up one run, five hits, and striking out two.
  • Emily Wikane, Julia Gatch, Alexis Valentine, and Brittany Bergquist each collected one hit to lead Fighting Owls.
GAME 4
  • Louisburg scored 11 runs in a shortened five inning game.
  • Alexis Valentine took the loss for Fighting Owls. She threw four innings, surrendering 11 runs, and 10 hits.
  • Harford was able to get on the scoreboard in the third inning as Lindsey Bowler drew a lead off walk followed by an Emily Wikane double. 
  • Wikane would later score when Samantha Znamiroski reached on an error by the Hurricanes shortstop.
  • Bowler and Wikane both reached base a couple of times with Wikane finishing 2-3 and Bowler 1-2 with a walk.

UP NEXT
  • Harford will continue their arduous travel schedule as they go to Mercer County in New Jersey on Saturday, March 4 at 12 PM.
  • The Vikings will open their season against Cecil College on March 1 before hosting Harford.
