Harford to Face San Jacinto in First Round

Fighting Owls given #17 seed in National Tournament

Bel Air, Md. - The NJCAA Division I women's basketball bracket is set and the Fighting Owls were given the #17 seed as an at-large bid. Harford's first round match will see them face the #16 seed San Jacinto out of Houston, Texas in the first game of the tournament at 11 AM ET on Monday, March 20.

San Jacinto was ranked #20 in the last NJCAA regular season poll after they finished 24-8 on the season. This will be the first ever trip to the national tournament for San Jacinto as they also enter the tournament with an at-large bid after losing in their regional tournament semifinal game against Kilgore College.

San Jacinto College is led by a trio of players who are averaging double-digit points. Freshman guard Eryka Sidney leads the team, averaging 12.2 points per game. She also leads the squad in three-point percentage, shooting nearly 37 percent from long range. Sophomores Ariona Gill and Jasmine James are second and third, averaging 11.2 and 10.4 points per game, respectively. Gill is also the team's top rebounder at 9.5 per game.

Harford returns to the tournament after qualifying for the first time in program history last year. This year's Fighting Owls squad is capable of accomplishing great things led by All-American Daisa Harris. Harford was one of the most dominating teams in the country this year, leading the NJCAA Division I in points scored (98.7 PPG), made field goals (1224) and steals per game (18.3). They also finished second in rebounds per game (55.8) and assists per game (22.5) while finishing third in blocks per game (6.3).

The Fighting Owls broke the program record for most wins in a season with 28 and reached their highest ranking ever at #11 in the final poll.

The winner of the first round game earns the right to face #1 seed Gulf Coast State in the second round.
