Anne Arundel dominates draw controls, possession to stifle Harford

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Playing in their first conference game of the season, the Fighting Owls found it difficult to gain or maintain possession.
  • Nina Urban and Courtney Poole scored early goals, but Anne Arundel jumped out to a 9-2 lead after 20 minutes of play.
  • Olivia Dowling and Urban scored back-to-back goals to cut into the deficit and Cidney Gray scored in the dying second of the first half, but Harford trailed 11-5 at the break.
  • The second half was more of the same as a Nina Urban goal was sandwiched by six Riverhawk scores before Courtney Poole scored the last goal with seven minutes to play in regulation.
  • Erica Wright stopped seven shots and Karlie Abbott forced three turnovers, but ultimately it was the Riverhawks winning the draw control battle 18-8 that really hampered the Harford cause.
UP NEXT:
  • Harford will return home to host Nassau on Friday, March 31 for a 5 PM game.
  • The Lions are 0-2 on the season with the losses coming against Frederick and Anne Arundel.
