HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Fighting Owls' power was put on display immediately as Tre Todd  hit a home run to lead off the game. This is the third time Todd has leadoff a game on the road with a home run for the Fighting Owls (2/18 at USC Sumter and 3/25 at Frederick). Todd has five home runs leading off in the Fighting Owls first at-bat of a game overall.
  • Harford hit three home runs in a four-run first inning, including back-to-back jacks by Adam Rapp and Ryan Calhoun. After Luke Johnson drew a walk, Rapp smacked a two-run shot to right field. Calhoun hit a laser over the fence in left field on the very next pitch to put Harford up 4-0.
  • Michael Taylor (4-0) was excellent on the mound, allowing just one unearned run on six hits and two walks. He struck out four over seven strong innings.
  • Todd hit his second home run of the game, a two-run shot, in the sixth inning. Todd now has 11 home runs on the season.
  • Johnson drove in four runs on the day including a three-run home run in the sixth inning. He now has a conference leading 13 home runs on the season.
  • With the five home runs Harford hit Wednesday, they now lead the nation with 78 home runs. Through 36 games, the Fighting Owls are currently on pace to surpass last year's record total of 119 long balls.
