Allendale, S.C. - After a much improved season in which the Harford softball team finished with a .500 record at 22-22, the Fighting Owls will enter into the Region 10/20 tournament as the #3 seed. This will pit Harford against the host school USC Salkehatchie in the first round of the tournament.
Harford finished the regular season fourth in the Md Juco Conference at 11-7, but due to the lack of other Division I teams in the region, the Fighting Owls are sent to South Carolina to be merged with Region 10. The winner of the tournament will earn a bid into the district tournament starting on May 5.
The Fighting Owls, led by freshmen pitchers/shortstops
Emily Bowler and
Alexis Valentine, go into the tournament with high hopes of making a strong presence at the tournament. Head coach
Kelly Sylvester said, "This team has the talent to play well in the tournament. I am expecting us to show up and fight hard to prove that Harford is capable of competing at the highest levels of this league."
The double elimination tournament begins on Friday, April 21.
