Fighting Owls win game one behind a gem by Emily Bowler

  • The Short Story: The Harford softball team split with the Hawks behind a brilliant pitching performance by Emily Bowler.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
  • Pitcher Emily Bowler was phenomenal in the opener as she pitched seven innings scattering seven hits and four walks with six strikeouts.
  • Harford's bats were productive as well against a good Hawks team with a four run second inning with Alexis Valentine hitting a 2-RBI single and E. Bowler adding an RBI single.
  • The Fighting Owls got it going again in the fifth inning with a Caroline Frank double, Samantha Znamiroski single, and a double by Julia Gatch that scored both.
  • Emily Bowler added an RBI double in the sixth inning to score sister Lindsay Bowler as the former finished 3-4 on the day.
GAME 2 
  • Hits were harder to come by in game two as they managed just five as two of them came from Lindsay Bowler.
  • Harford's lone run came in the seventh inning as Caroline Frank scored on an RBI single by Emily Wikane.
  • Alexis Valentine started the game on the bump, but lasted just one inning before Emily Bowler pitched the final five innings of the game.
