 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Monroe was not ranked in this week's NJCAA rankings due to a clerical error, but were ranked #3 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and were #8 in the preseason NJCAA Division I poll.
  • The Fighting Owls came into the affair riding a lot of confidence with five consecutive shut outs, but Monroe quickly put an end to that streak with a first half goal to take the early lead.
  • Both teams had plenty of early scoring opportunities with Mackenzie Wills getting past the defense only to be denied by the Mustangs goalkeeper on a couple of occasions.
  • With tensions rising, the game turned when Alecia Rotunno was shown two yellow cards within five minutes to put Harford down a player for the duration of the contest.
  • Monroe took advantage of the additional player and continued to hit shots towards the Harford goal, but Crystal Kline had her best collegiate performance to date with nine saves in an incredible game for the goalkeeper.
  • With time running out and less than two minutes remaining in regulation, Rachel Bohli latched onto a a long cross and found herself open in the Mustang box and powered it into the back of the net to tie the game in dramatic fashion.
  • It took just three minutes of overtime play for a Mackenzie Forsythe through ball to open up Bohli who gracefully slotted the ball into the far side netting to send the home faithful into a riotous frenzy.
