Bel Air, Md. – The Fighting Owls put on their best performance of the season Saturday afternoon, upsetting the #10 Monroe CC Tribunes 2-1.
Harford's defensive quartet of
Crystal Kline,
Alecia Rotunno,
Natalie Berkey, and
Eleni Serevetas held the potent Tribune offense to a measly four shots on target. Monroe came into the game with the fourth best offense in the NJCAA Division I ranks, led by star forward Roosa Ariyo and her NJCAA-leading 40 goals.
The Fighting Owls first goal came from
Kasie Lambert, who tucked home a penalty kick midway through the opening half to tie the game at 1-1. The penalty was won by
Lillyann Loomis, who earned the whistle after being torn down in the box by a Monroe defender.
Harford would take their first lead of the day came thanks to Fighting Owls' leading goal-scorer
Rachel Bohli. The sophomore striker broke free of the Tribunes' and blasted a shot into the top left corner of the net to give the ladies in blue the lead 12 minutes into the second half.
With the win, Harford jumps to 9-2 (4-1 in Md Juco) on the season while Monroe falls to 10-4.
