HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
  • Chesapeake came out early, scoring one of their four runs in the bottom of the first inning.
  • Harford struck back in the fourth inning beginning with Nick D'Amore's sacrifice fly, scoring Nick Rowland to tie the game.
  • Lou Testa would then double to left field, scoring Spencer Smith. To cap the inning off, Joey Schwartz singled to left field, scoring Lou Testa to give the Fighting Owls a 3-1 lead heading to the fifth.
  • The Skipjacks tied the game back in the sixth off an RBI bunt single.
  • Then, in dramatic fashion, the Skipjacks walked off on a wild pitch, initially intended to be an intentional walk, winning 4-3.
  • Truman Thomas picked up a no decision for the game despite having eight strikeouts, one walk, and giving up only two earned runs.
GAME 2
  • Harford came out swinging in game two as Michael Richardson, Nick D'Amore, and Joey Schwartz all homered in the top of the first inning, giving the Fighting Owls a generous 5-0 lead.
  • After a long rain delay at the conclusion of the second inning, the Fighting Owls continued to put on a show in the third inning, scoring three runs off of a culmination of walks, a wild pitch, and a single to first base from Michael Richardson, to put Harford up 9-0.
  • Behind an electric performance from Zach Guth, David Moore, and Brandon Nickel, the Fighting Owls picked up a combined no-hitter.
  • Harford would go on to score two more runs off of RBI single from Michael Richardson in the fifth and Ryan Calhoun's RBI single in the sixth, to seal the game with an 11-1 Fighting Owl's victory.
  • Zach Guth picked up his sixth win of the season (6-0) as he continues to mow his way through the conference competition.
