Harford Drops Rainy Opener

  • The Short Story: The Fighting Owls kicked off the 2018 season against Harcum, battling both the Bears and the elements Tuesday night. The combination of the two proved to be too much for the men in blue, as a 70th minute goal would be enough to Harcum through.

How It Happened
  • Ryan Dean opened his scoring account for the 2018 season, tucking a shot home in the sixth minute to put Harford ahead 1-0. The lead proved to be short lived, as Kamal Sabar's rebound goal in the 12th minute would make it 1-1.
  • The Fighting Owls responded in the 16th minute, as Rezon Ahmeti would punch through his first goal for a 2-1 lead.
  • Sabar would once again come to the rescue for the Bears, finishing off his own missed chance to put the two teams back on even terms heading into the half.
  • With the rain continuing to come down hard, neither team could gain control and picked up several yellow cards.
  • Unfortunately for Harford it was Harcum's Karam Idris that broke the tie off a Fighting Owls' turnover to put the Bears ahead 3-2. The men in blue would have two straight corner kicks to end the match but could not find a third goal before time expired.

  • Harford heads to Essex for a pair of tough matches against #5 Eastern Florida State (August 25) and #3 Monroe College (August 26).
