BEL AIR, Md. – Harford men's soccer saw its 2019 season end virtually the way it started, dropping a 7-1 decision to the top-seeded Essex Knights, Wednesday afternoon inside Harford Stadium.
The Region XX Division I semifinal clash finished with a similar score line to the two team's meeting back on August 27, which ended with a 6-1 final in favor of the Knights.
Unlike their meeting in the season opener, the Knights finished their early opportunities. Harford salvaged a bit of momentum entering the half, as
Wyatt Moran connected with
Robel Bisrat via corner kick seconds before the break to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Despite doubling their shot total and making a change at keeper, the Fighting Owls were unable to capitalize on this newfound momentum, surrendering three additional goals to the Knights in the second half.
Harford finishes the season with an 8-11 record, doubling its win total from 2018.
