BEL AIR, Md. – The Harford women's basketball team did not disappoint the Fighting Owl faithful in its home opener, as the ladies in blue roughed up the Thomas Nelson Gators, 114-19, Tuesday night inside the APGFCU Arena.
Six Fighting Owls finished in double figures on the evening, including a 27-point performance from freshman guard
Aniya Vaughns.
Demeya Felder fell two steals short of a triple-double, ending the evening with 12 points and a team leading 12 assists to match.
Harford jumps to 2-0 on the year, while the Gators plummet to 0-3.
Turning Point
Harford's defense was once again immaculate, registering 21 steals while surrendering a measly 10 points heading into the half. A 13-0 Harford run to start the first quarter followed by a 14-6 spurt to close it put the game out of reach early.
Box Score Highlights
- Jada Lake racked up 20 points, seven steals and six rebounds.
- Kelvajha Foster rocked the Gators for 14 points and a team leading nine rebounds.
- Zaria Newson (10 points, eight rebounds) and Aislynn Riggs (12 points, six steals) rounded out the scorers with 10 points or more. Newson and Riggs also recorded two blocks each.
- 61 of Harford's 114 points came off of Thomas Nelson turnovers.
- Harford's bench outscored the Gators, 59-7.
