Allendale, S.C. – The Fighting Owls met up with USC Salkehatchie for the first of two doubleheaders on Saturday, falling to the Indians in both contests.
USC Salkehatchie 10 – Harford 0
Haley Haselden (5 IP, 0 ER) was white hot on the mound in game one, surrendering just two hits while striking out eight Fighting Owls.
Salkehatchie put the game away in the first three innings, highlighted by a six-run showing in the second.
Gabreille Pfaff and
Amanda Sullivan were the lone Fighting Owls to reach base in the contest.
USC Salkehatchie 8 – Harford 5
Harford looked primed to win its first game of the season after going up 3-0 in the top of the first. The Indians fired back immediately, driving in four runs off three hits to take the lead.
Harford's
Jessica Miller and USC's Gabby Sease each drove in a row in the third for a 5-4 score. The Indians finally broke the game open in the fourth, driving home three runs on two hits and three Harford errors to take an 8-4 lead.
The Fighting Owls found another run in the sixth, but eventually fell to the USC for the fourth straight time in two days.
Amanda Sullivan led Harford with a 3-for-4 performance at the dish.
Jessica Miller drove in two runs.
