Bel Air, Md. – Harford used a pair of three-run innings to upend the Mercer County Vikings, 6-4, Friday evening at the Harford Sports Complex. The Fighting Owls remain undefeated in their last 21 games.
Spencer Smith and
Jimmy Nixon provided the majority of the run support for Harford. Smith's single to left played two runs via fielding error, while Nixon belted a two-RBI shot over the right field fence in fourth.
The Fighting Owls utilized four pitchers to get the job done on the mound. Braedon Fausnaught (1.0 IP, 2 ER) struck out three but earned a no decision.
Marty Neal (2.0 IP, 0 ER) sat down two Vikings and surrendered just one hit in two innings on the bump to earn his fifth win of the season.
Blake James (2.1 IP, 1 ER) struck out three before giving way to
Mike Taylor (1.2 IP, 1 ER), who'd close out the game to earn his first save of 2019.
Harford improves to 31-5 with the victory, while Mercer County drops to 22-9
