Keyser, W.Va. – Harford scored the final 11 runs of the contest, leading to a 15-8 comeback victory over the Potomac State Catamounts to claim its fourth straight Region 20 championship, Monday afternoon at Golden Park.
Potomac State got off to a strong start, scoring eight runs in the first four innings. A three-run homer in the second by
Reyce Curnane saw Harford steal the lead temporarily, with the Catamounts reclaiming it by scoring three runs in the third and fourth inning.
The Fighting Owls got back into their groove again offensively in the fourth, loading the bases for
Spencer Harbert who'd mash a double to center to plate three runs.
Thomas Hojnacki finally put Harford back on top in the fifth, ripping a double of his own down the left field line as part of a six-run inning.
Spencer Smith put the final touches on the score line in the sixth, blasting a ball over the right field wall to drive Harford's advantage to 15-8. The home run is Smith's 13 of the year and 32 of his Harford career, breaking
Luke Johnson's record of 31 set back in 2017.
Harford improves to 46-7 on the year. Potomac State falls to 31-11.
