BEL AIR, Md. - Harford men's soccer extended its win streak to seven games on Thursday evening, defeating the Montgomery Raptors 2-1 in a giant Region 20 Division I clash inside Harford Stadium.
The Fighting Owls went down early on a goal from the Raptors at 3:37 in the first half. Harford peppered the Montgomery net over the next 30 minutes, then finally broke through in the 33rd after
Kye Williams dashed into the box and found
Tyrik Trotman for his fifth goal of the season.
Williams, who scored a hat trick in Tuesday's win over Howard, struck four his fourth goal of the week after he chested down a poor clearance by the Raptors and fired home a shot with his left foot. The final three minutes of the first half expired shorly after as Harford took a 2-1 lead into the break.
Harford would outshoot Montgomery (12-5) in the second half, but neither team was able to make add another goal in the final 45 minutes. The Raptors had a pair of last gasp chances in the 85th and 87th saved by Fighting Owl goalie
Emanuele Moretti, keep Harford's hopes of earning the top seed in the Region 20 DI tournament alive and well.
The Fighting Owls are 10-2 (7-2 MD JUCO) after today's victory.
