BEL AIR, Md. – A trio of middle inning home runs end up being the difference for the Fighting Owls, as Harford swooped in to take a 5-2 victory over the Lackawanna Falcons, Thursday afternoon inside the Harford Sports Complex.
Trailing 2-1 heading into the third, leadoff hitter
Joe Quelch started the inning with a single. Next up was
Reyce Curnane, who'd take Lackawanna deep to give Harford its first lead of the day. Three batters later and their lead would double with a solo shot by
Mason Hicks.
Hicks popped up again in the fifth, blasting a ball off the outfield wall that nearly ran all the way back to the infield for the Fighting Owls first inside the park home run of the season.
Outside of surrendering two runs in the second, Harford pitching was lights out in game one.
Carter Heller (3-0) controlled the Falcons through the first five innings, striking out six batters.
Connor Blantz (S, 2) came on late to seal the game, sitting down a trio of batters in two innings of work.
Harford improves to 21-7-1 with the victory.
