Bel Air, MD - The Fighting Owls overcame a poor 1
st half shooting performance and came from behind to steal a 68 – 64 victory over the College of Southern Maryland Hawks. Harford shot 23% from the field and only 17% from 3-point range in the first half and allowed the winless Hawks to gain a 25 -18 edge going into the locker room.
The second half of the game was a different story for the Fighting Owls. Harford outscored the College of Southern Maryland in the 3
rd quarter 23 – 18 thanks to a strong performance from Akirah Watson off the bench. Watson added 8 points and 8 rebounds for the game.
The Hawks took it's biggest lead at the 7 minute mark of the 4
th quarter, going up by 12. Then the Fighting Owl shooting caught fire with four consecutive 3-pointers by Taylor Crystian. Crystian finished with a game high 28 points. With the deficit cut to two, Tamia Clark took a pivotal charge foul to give Harford possession. Seconds later Julia Skinner hit a long range 3-pointer to put the Fighting Owls up for good.
Quren Santiago added 13 points and Skinner chipped in 12 points to round out the Harford scoring. The Hawks were led Janaya Sims' 15 points and a near triple double from Lillian Reynolds (10 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists).
Up next for Harford, the Fighting Owls travel to Howard Community College on Nov. 29.
