BOONEVILLE, MS. - Harford softball kicked off its season with some stiff competition, facing No. 11 Three Rivers and tournament host Northeast Mississippi as a part of the Tigersfest Tournament.
Harford took on Three Rivers first, falling 8-0 to the Raiders. Three Rivers did all of its work across a pair of innings, scoring three runs in the first and five in the fourth. For Harford,
Emily Curry made her collegiate debuted and tallied two hits. Fellow freshman
Brooke Nall also scored her first collegiate hit, while 2021 returner
Brianna Brunetto also snagged a base knock.
On the mound, veteran lefty
Alyssa McLaughlin (0-1) struck out three over four innings before being stuck with the loss.
In the Fighting Owls second game of the day, Harford found themselves on the wrong side of a 17-2 defeat against the Tigers of Northeast Mississippi. The Tigers struck for 11 runs in the first inning to put the women in blue behind the eight ball early. Harford did manage to score its first two runs of the season on a pair of RBI singles by Curry and
Riley Fisher. Redshirt sophomore
Kaitlyn Delaney also picked up her first hit as a Fighting Owl.
Fisher was stuck with the loss from the bump.
