ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Harford women's lacrosse returned to the field for the first time 742 days and did so in dominate fashion, breezing through No. 4 Monroe CC 22-3 on Saturday afternoon.
The Fighting Owls refused to let rain or evening a lightning delay douse their triumphant return. The 2019 NJCAA National Champions got out to a fast start, scoring nine goals in the opening quarter. Harford outscored the Tribunes 4-2 in the second and led 13-3 at the break, then went on to shut out Monroe over the final 30 minutes while scoring nine additional goals.
Gabby Trzeciak headlined the offensive efforts with a half-dozen goals.
Claire Ashburn flanked her with five goals and two assists and
Casey DiVenti ended with four and two. Rounding out the strong defensive performance was
Cassidy Poole (three goals, three assists).
Jordan Kolb, the last Fighting Owl remaining from the 2020 season, started in goal and earned five saves.
Harford sits a 1-0 on the year.
