BEL AIR, Md. - Harford starter
Bobby Spencer tossed seven strong innings, as the Fighting Owl offense did just enough to down the Monroe College Mustangs 3-1.
Although he only faced the minimum once, Spencer (2-1) looked sharp and shut down most of Monroe's offensive advances. The Atlanta, Georgia native struck out six and allowed just one run on 78 pitches.
Despite a season low two hits for the game, Harford's offense came through when it mattered the most. An RBI-single by
Trey Cruz in the fifth drove home
Cam Trego to tie the game at 1-1. Cruz ran himself into a pickle in the next at-bat, allowing
Quinn Madden to steal home to put the Fighting Owls up 2-1.
A solo shot by
Braedon Karpathios in the bottom sixth followed by another strong inning from Spencer in the seventh landed Harford a sweep of its East District rival.
Harford improves to 22-4 on the season after the win.
