BEL AIR, Md. - Jess Bouthet and
Emily Curry combined for seven hits and five RBI, as the Fighting Owls snagged a sweep of the Jefferson Cannoneers with a 12-4 triumph in game two.
Bouthet finished a triple shy of the cycle, wooing the Harford faithful with a home run and double as part of her 4-for-4 day. Curry finished with two singles as well as a double in the fifth that scored a pair of Fighting Owls to end the game via mercy rule.
Jefferson experienced déjà vu to start the game as they watched Harford go up 2-0 in the first inning. The Cannoneers managed to plate their first run of the day on a defensive error by the Fighting Owls, but Harford went on to score seven runs over the next two frames to take a 9-1 lead. Jefferson's offense picked back up and delayed a mercy rule defeat with two runs in the fifth, but the Fighting Owls matched their efforts in the bottom half of the inning to walk away the victors.
With the win, Harford moves to 11-8.
