BEL AIR, Md. - Freshman infielder
Jess Bouthet launched two home runs, as the Fighting Owls edged Monroe College 12-7 in game two for a sweep of the Mustangs.
Bouthet led off Harford's offensive campaign in the bottom of the first with a solo home run down the left field line. She struck again in the fourth with a much needed three-run blast for the Fighting Owls, who after being up 8-0 early gave up five runs in the fourth to allow Monroe back in the contest.
Emily Curry followed up Bouthet two batters later with a solo slam of her own to make it 12-5 in favor of the home team.
The Mustangs managed to tack on two late runs in the seventh before
Alyssa McLaughlin (6-4) slammed the door shut. The veteran left-hander struck five over seven innings of work to earn the victory.
Harford jumps to 15-10 on the year after the win.
