BEL AIR, Md. - Harford earned a convincing win over Allegany in game two, as
Emily Curry's single to center scored
Kaitlyn Delaney in the fifth for an 11-3 mercy rule triumph over the Trojans on Sophomore Day.
After a quiet first, Harford swung into form and scored eight runs over the next two frames.
Mackenzie Burton sparked the outburst with a single to right that brought home
Brooke Nall.
Alyssa McLaughlin stepped up two batters later and cranked a single down the left field line that plated a pair for a 3-0 lead.
Jess Bouthet (3-for-4) put a bow on the inning after her single scored
Paige Clark.
Clark kicked off the scoring in the third with a single that scored Nall, then Bouthet drove home one run off a base knock. Bouthet got involved again quickly, as her double steal allowed
Alyssa McLaughlin to score before Delaney drove her home for a 8-0 lead. McLaughlin also drove home two in the fourth to put Harford ahead 10-0.
McLaughlin (8-5) starred in the circle as well, tossing a shutout through four before a trio of unearned runs came through for Allegany in the fifth. Despite this, the veteran lefty needed just 56 pitches to earn herself the victory.
Harford improves to 18-13 (7-6 MD JUCO) with the victory.
