BEL AIR, Md. - No. 1Â Harford received a wake-up call from Florence Darlington, losing 24-12 to the No. 2 Stingers in Sunday's first contest.
The loss forces the "If Necessary" Game Seven to take place on Sunday at 4 p.m. The Fighting Owls earned the right to a second game after winning their first two games of the tournament.
The Stingers jumped on Harford early and went up 7-0 to start the contest. Harford cut the deficit back to three after three-RBI double from
Blake Mayberry and a base knock from Madden that plated Mayberry. After a scoreless second, Flo-Dar would go on to outscore the Fighting Owls 12-3 over the next five innings. Neither team scored in the fifth and both teams scored five runs in the ninth before the final out was recorded.
The 24 runs and 27 hits the Fighting Owls surrendered are its most allowed in modern program history.
Despite the loss, several Fighting Owls had monster performances.
Jeremiah Guzman finished a single short of the cycle and tallied three RBI.
Blake Mayberry pulled together four RBI and four hits, including two doubled.
Quinn Madden ended with a home run and four RBI.
The Fighting Owls drop to 47-7 with the loss.
