Trey Cruz has been crowned the Region 20 Division I Player of the Month for April, as announced by region officials on Thursday.
Cruz's batting average jumped 38 points (.328 to .366) between April 1-30. He tallied at least one hit in 16 games and finished with seven multi-hit games. The New York native slammed nine home runs in April as well. Cruz's crowing performance was a seven RBI game where he finished a single short of the cycle vs. Southern Maryland (April 24). The freshman shortstop also just missed the cycle by one double in a win over Chesapeake (April 9).
The Fighting Owls are currently preparing to head to the NJCAA DI JUCO World Series, set to take place in Grand Junction, Colorado May 28-June 4. Harford claimed the East District Championship to earn their spot in the 10-team tournament.
