Fighting Owls Draw No. 1 Walters State for JUCO World Series Opener

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Harford Fighting Owls Baseball Team has been dealt the No. 10 seed in the upcoming 2022 NJCAA Division I JUCO World Series, as announced by the national office on Tuesday.

The Fighting Owls will face No. 1 Walters State on Saturday, May 28 at 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Senators, based out of Tennessee, have held down the top spot in the NJCAA DI Baseball Poll since April 11. Harford was ranked No. 15 in the most recent poll after capturing the East District Championship over Florence-Darlington.

The 10-team, double-elimination tournament consists of the 10 District Champions from across the United States. The NJCAA DI JUCO World Series is hosted at Sam Suplizio Field in Grand Junction, Colorado from May 28 to June 4. This is Harford's second time making the trip out west, having made it for the first time in program history back in 2016. The Fighting Owls were also given the bottom seed that season, but outlasted 10 other teams before succumbing to No.1 Chattahoocee Valley in an opening round rematch on day four.
