Quelch Named NJCAA Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The National Junior College Athletic Association has named Joe Quelch as the NJCAA Division I Baseball Player of the Week for Week 10.

Quelch hit .600 and mashed four home runs during the week, including a three homer performance in a 27-2 win over Lackawanna. The Maryland native also went deep and doubled as part of 13-3 mercy-rule victory over Garrett. Quelch's bat was often avoided by opposing pitchers, with the frosh outfielder walking seven times. As a result, he recorded five stolen bases and scored 12 runs.

Quelch currently leads the Fighting Owls in batting average (.426), runs (69), hits (52), walks (43), stolen bases (26), and home runs (16). He is the first Harford baseball student-athlete to earn the award since Ben Bomberger (April 6-12, 2015).

Harford Baseball finished the regular season 42-6 and ranked No. 20 in the NJCAA DI Weekly Poll. The Fighting Owls are set to host the Region 20 DI Baseball Tournament from Sunday, May 8 through Tuesday, May 10. Harford is the No. 1 seed in the tournament after finishing 3-1 against No. 2 seed Potomac State and No. 3 Hagerstown.
