BEL AIR, Md. – The Harford women's soccer team was firing on all cylinders Tuesday night as they played host to the Roadrunners of Rowan. Storms postponed the beginning of the contest briefly, but clear skies followed and made for a great night for women's soccer action.
The first goal of the game came less than four minutes into the start of the contest.
Jamie Moyer broke through the Rowan back line to deliver a perfect ball across the box for
Lauren Westbrook to place into the corner of the net. Westbrook would leave her mark on the game again just a few minutes later, feeding
Remi Rollins into the box on a perfectly weighted volley to put Harford up 2-0. Before the end of the half, Rowan's Kayleigh Shuff would find the back of the net off a free kick that sailed to the back post of the box, and deflected off of several players before trickling into the corner of the goal.
The second half was a continuation of the barrage on the Rowan defense from the first half. Harford would tally 11 shots and 8 corners in the period.
Sarah Barnes was able to increase the lead in the 58
th minute off a 30-yard finish that sailed past the Rowan keeper's reach. The Fighting Owls continued to create opportunities in the Roadrunner's half until a quick counterattack would send Angelina Bluford into scoring position, and bring the final score within one.
Becky Brittell would make the only save of the game for the Fighting Owls during her time in goal. The Harford defense reduced the Roadrunners offensive production to just 3 shots, compared to the Owl's 20.
The Fighting Owls stand at 3-0 (0-0 MD JUCO) after the victory.
