BEL AIR, MD – The Harford Women's Lacrosse team debuting as #1 in the national rankings dropped its home opener on Saturday to #2 Onondaga by a score of 10-12. This game was a rematch of the 2022 National Tournament Final that saw Harford claim its second championship in a row. The Fighting Owls defeated the Lazers 19-14 in the contest held at Onondaga.Â

The first period was a back and forth battle for goals as the teams traded blows.
Madison Dawson opened up the scoring for the Fighting Owls notching the first two Harford goals, while three different players on the Lazers netted their rebuttals.
Ashley Waldhauser would bring the game within one just before halftime with Harford trailing 7-8. Onondaga would pull away in the third quarter 12-8 and despite not allowing any Lazer goals in the fourth quarter, the Fighting Owls could not make up the difference.

Dawson would tally four goals on the debut, followed closely by Waldhauser with three of her own. Freshmen
Julia Skinner and
Ally Torgerson would contribute a goal each to the effort, as well as Sophomore defender
Jacqueline Garst. Sophomore goalie Sam Devorak logged 7 saves on the day.
