Fighting Owls Open with 2-2 Draw

In a thrilling MDJUCO men's soccer matchup, the Riverhawks of Anne Arundel played host to the Harford Fighting Owls, ultimately ending in a 2-2 draw.

The game began with both teams displaying their offensive prowess right from the start. Brian Guillen of Anne Arundel struck first at the 10-minute mark, capitalizing on a well-timed assist from Ethan Belcher to give his team an early lead. However, Harford Community College responded swiftly, with Kodjo Gaklo finding the back of the net at the 27:40 mark to even the score.

As the intensity of the match escalated, Harford gained momentum and took the lead in the 62nd minute. Phillip Gall's goal, beautifully assisted by Xavier Roy, put Harford ahead and put the RIverhawks under pressure to respond. But Anne Arundel Community College wasn't ready to back down. Jose Rodriguez's goal at the 74-minute mark, with an assist from Mailk Williamson, brought Anne Arundel back into the game and tied the score once again.

The match saw its fair share of yellow cards, with both teams battling fiercely for control. Gabe Stone from Anne Arundel, as well as Mikel Iniesta, Josh Moyer, Jahdell Thomas, Rex Pearce, and Andres Jaimes Montoya from Harford, received cautions during the course of the game.

Both teams exhibited impressive offensive displays, amassing a total of 16 shots (7 on goal) for Harford and 13 shots (9 on goal) for Anne Arundel. The goalkeepers were kept on their toes, with Harford's goalkeeper Jake Van Voorhees making 7 saves and Anne Arundel's goalkeeper stopping 5 shots.

Corner kicks and fouls were distributed relatively evenly between the teams, showcasing the competitive nature of the match. Harford managed 6 corner kicks while Anne Arundel had 4. Harford was called for 12 fouls while Anne Arundel accumulated just 5.
