NORTH EAST, MD - Temperatures soared in Cecil County as the Fighting Owls traveled to face the Seahawks for their fourth MDJUCO contest of 2023. Harford secured a hard-fought victory against Cecil College, winning 2-1 after battling 90 minutes through heat and a stubborn Seahawks defense.
The game got off to an electrifying start for Harford as Rex Pearce found Kodjo Gaklo on a corner kick, and converted the first goal of the contest in the 15th minute. Harford doubled their lead in the 37th minute when Phillip Gall executed a precise strike, extending their lead to 2-0. Vinicius Santos delivered an excellent assist, setting up Gall for the goal. Harford would enter the break up 2-0.
Cecil College did not go down without a fight, as they managed to convert in the 79th minute. Akeil John displayed great composure in front of the goal, capitalizing on an assist from Ronaldo King, making it a 2-1 game.
Overall, Harford outshot Cecil College 42 to 11, with 17 of their shots on target. Harford's goalkeeper Jake Van Voorhees made three saves, while Cecil College's goalkeeper was kept busy, making a total of 17 saves. Harford also had the upper hand in corner kicks, securing 8 while denying any attempts from the corner flag from Cecil. The match was physical at times, with a total of 17 fouls committed, eight by Harford and nine by Cecil College.
