Women's Basketball: Fighting Owls Clip Cardinals 69-53, Nimmo Scores Career-High 35

Catonsville, Md. -- Harford women's basketball won its second consecutive game last night, defeating CCBC Catonsville 69-53 on the road at the Jack Manley Wellness & Athletics Center.

It's the Fighting Owls (4-3, 1-0) first time winning back-to-back games this season and puts them above .500 for the first time since starting 1-0 on November 1.

The game was marked by strong performances from key players, and while both teams had their struggles shooting, Harford's ability to get to the free-throw line proved crucial in securing the win.

Harford's standout was Madison Nimmo (C. Milton Wright H.S.), who finished with a game and collegiate career-high 35 points (7-of-25 shooting), which included three three-pointers.

Nimmo's aggressive play and ability to get to the line were key to her 30+ point performance, as she also went 18-of-23 from the free-throw line.

Eshe Knox (Western H.S.) also had an impressive outing, contributing 17 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Alex Mann (New Town, H.S.) grabbed 12 rebounds to go along with 4 points.

CCBC Catonsville struggled with their shooting accuracy. Jayda Mayles led the way for Catonsville, scoring 17 points on 5-of-19 shooting, including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Jocelyn Fogle was another bright spot for the home team, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds, but the team's overall shooting percentage of just 35.1% from the field hurt their chances.

CCBC Catonsville's defense managed to limit Harford's shooting to just 30% for the game, but they couldn't keep up with the foul discrepancy.

Harford capitalized on its trips to the charity stripe, converting 29-of-40 free throws (72.5%) and held the Cardinals to just 10 attempts. The stark difference in free-throw shooting proved to be a game-changer as Harford extended its lead.

Harford's defense played a solid role in stifling Catonsville's offense. The duo of Nimmo and Knox combined for four steals and kept the pressure on Catonsville's ball handlers all night.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, struggled with turnovers, committing 25 in total, which allowed the Fighting Owls to capitalize on fast-break opportunities.

Harford looks to keep its momentum going tomorrow night, as they host Monroe University. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the APG Federal Credit Union Arena.
