BEL AIR - Harford hosted the Prince George's Owls in a MDJUCO double header over the weekend. The Fighting Owls jumped to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning of game one. The second inning would be even more explosive for the home side. Harford added nine runs on six hits to go up 13-0.
Joey Pagano tripled and
Jesse Jaconski singled, each scoring one run. Then
Ehi Okojie homered to left field scoring three runs, followed by a solo shot from
Jake McCarter to left field.
John Rosario would follow suit with a home run of his own, scoring three. McCarter would homer again in the third, this time to center field scoring two runs. The final long ball of the contest would come from
Alex Hebenstreit in the bottom of the fourth to center field, scoring three more runs. Harford would win game one handily by a score of 25-2. Dave Catanese would get the start on the mound, giving up just one hit and zero runs over three innings.
Colton Adams would seal the win as relief.
Game two was more of the same for Harford with
Robert Phelps hitting a homer of his own in the bottom of the first. His next at bat in the bottom of the second would be another solo shot.
John Rosario would homer in the second as well, putting the Fighting Owls up 5-1. As a team, Harford would draw 15 walks throughout the game and steal 12 bases. The final score would favor the Fighting Owls 12-2 and earn the home side their 12th series sweep of the year.
Gilbert Saunders stepped on the bump first for Harford giving up two hits and one run over three and one-third innings. He would strike out four and walk one on the day.
Logan Houser pitched one inning of no-run ball in relief. He surrendered zero hits and struck out three.
