Harford Women's Soccer Begins Title Defense

Bel Air, Md. -- The Fighting Owls women's soccer team heads into NJCAA Region 20 Division I Tournament semifinal today as the three-time defending champions and will take on Montgomery at 4:30 p.m., as Harford plays host for this year's tournament.

With an 8-8-2 overall record and a strong 7-1-2 mark in conference play, the Fighting Owls have shown they can compete when it matters.

Offensively, the squad has produced 47 goals this season while allowing 42, averaging 2.61 goals scored per game compared to 2.33 conceded. That scoring punch has been led by rising standout Lila Vincenti (Havre de Grace), who leads the squad with 15 goals and six assists for 36 points — the most on the team. Complementing Vincenti's efforts is Aubrey Heise (seven goals, six assists) and Sydney Stoneback (four goals, four assists) who have provided steady secondary scoring.

On the other end of the pitch, the defensive unit has weathered challenges through a number of tough non-conference games, yet held strong in key moments — particularly in conference play.

One of the keys for Harford in the semifinal will be replicating the offensive dominance they showed late in the season. They opened October with a resounding 10-0 home victory over Howard Community College Dragons, showcasing their ability to pour on goals and control a match. Tightening up on the defensive end will also be essential; rounding into form now is crucial if the Fighting Owls hope to advance.

In the semifinal matchup, Harford can lean on home-field advantage at Harford Stadium and the coaching staff's encouragement to "finish strong." Their conference performance (7-1-2) shows they have learned to win the games they must. But the elimination format means that every play, every challenge, every set-piece matters.

If Harford plays to its strengths — attacking with pace, applying consistent pressure, and staying disciplined in defense — they'll be tough to stop.
