BEL AIR, Md. — From the opening minutes, the Harford Community College women's soccer team put Frederick Community College under pressure — and it rarely let up.
The Fighting Owls scored twice in the opening 21 minutes and added three more goals after halftime Tuesday, rolling to a 5-0 victory over the Cougars at the Harford Sports Complex.
With the win, Harford improved to 6-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 against Region 20 opponents. The Fighting Owls also extended their winning streak against Frederick to 14 consecutive matches, dating to October 2008.
Lila Vincenti got Harford on the board just 3:17 into the match, scoring off an assist from Annabelle Lathroum. Julianna Baker added to the lead at 20:23, converting a chance set up by Sydney McLaughlin.
The two-goal advantage held through halftime, but Harford's offensive pressure never subsided. The Fighting Owls outshot Frederick, 20-0, during the opening 45 minutes.
Hailey Cain extended the lead to 3-0 at 50:30, scoring her first goal of the match. Macy Forest followed at 65:05, with Lathroum recording her second assist of the night.
Cain capped the scoring at 82:53, finding the net for the second time with an assist from Ariana Neff.
Harford finished with a 44-2 advantage in shots and put 22 shots on goal compared with one for Frederick. The Fighting Owls also earned all eight corner kicks in the match.
Forest led Harford with nine shots, including four on goal. Cain finished with five shots and four on target, while Vincenti recorded three shots and two on goal.
Lathroum contributed two assists and three shots, while Baker, McLaughlin and Neff each recorded an assist.
The Fighting Owls' defense kept the Cougars largely away from the attacking third, limiting Frederick to just two shots. Maebree Knight recorded Frederick's lone shot on goal.
Harford goalkeeper Olivia Wollschlager made one save to preserve the shutout. Frederick goalkeeper Hannah Cook faced a much busier evening, finishing with 17 saves.
By the final whistle, Harford had produced five goals, 44 shots and another shutout — along with another chapter in its long-running dominance of Frederick.
The Fighting Owls will look to build on the victory as they continue their Region 20 schedule on Tuesday with a match at home against Garrett College. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
