The Harford Athletics Department and Athletics Director Ken Krsolovic announced the hiring of Murray Davis as head coach of the men's and women's cross country program.

Davis previously served as Fighting Owls head coach in the program's first two seasons of existence, from 2011-12. Those two seasons remain the most successful in the brief history of the program, as Davis transformed the Fighting Owls cross country program from a club sport in 2010 into a varsity program that saw Tyler Muse win the conference and region titles in back-to-back seasons.

Davis brings back almost 30 years of coaching experience in the cross country field, including the head coach of the cross country teams and associate head coach for the track and field teams at UMBC from 2000-06. He earned America East Conference Coach of the Year in 2005 for cross country. Davis was also the head cross country coach at C. Milton Wright High School from 1997-2000. During his stint at the local high school, Davis earned All-Metro Coach of the Year honors in 1999 and 2000. In 2000, he was awarded the Harford County Coach of the Year among all fall sports in the 10 area high schools.

Davis received his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, from Towson University and his master's of science degree, magna cum laude, in exercise physilogy from Eastern Michigan University.
