Madison Knight

  • Title
    Head Coach

Madison Knight was named the head softball coach at Harford Community College in June 2026.

A Belcamp, Maryland native and Patterson Mill High School graduate, Knight returns to Harford County following a standout four-year NCAA Division I career at Syracuse University, where she established herself as one of the most accomplished two-way players in program history.

Knight appeared in 170 games for the Orange from 2023-26, excelling both in the circle and at the plate. As a pitcher, she compiled a 38-37 career record with a 3.54 earned run average, 389 strikeouts, and more than 499 innings pitched. Offensively, she batted .252 with 29 home runs, 95 RBIs, and a .526 slugging percentage.

Her name remains throughout the Syracuse record book, ranking tied for third in single-season home runs (15), tied for sixth in career home runs, tied for seventh in single-season extra-base hits, fifth in single-season slugging percentage, and eighth in career slugging percentage.

Knight earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors in 2023 after becoming just the second player in Syracuse softball history to receive the distinction. During her freshman season, she threw the program's 11th no-hitter and finished with a team-best 2.99 ERA and 128 strikeouts. Throughout her career, she developed into one of the Atlantic Coast Conference's premier two-way threats, earning multiple ACC Academic Honor Roll selections, All-ACC Academic Team recognition, and repeated appearances on Syracuse's Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

As a junior in 2025, Knight recorded several signature performances, including a complete-game victory over then-No. 16 Duke in which she hit a go-ahead home run and struck out six batters. She also threw a shutout against Georgia Tech and helped Syracuse earn victories over nationally ranked opponents throughout the season.

Prior to Syracuse, Knight was one of Maryland's most decorated high school athletes at Patterson Mill. A four-year varsity letter winner in both softball and basketball, she helped lead the Huskies to the 2021 MPSSAA Class 1A State Championship and a state runner-up finish in 2022. She earned First Team All-Harford County honors in both sports all four years and was named Gatorade Maryland Softball Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022, USA Today Maryland Softball Player of the Year in 2021, and a Baltimore Sun All-Metro selection in 2021 and 2022.

Knight's softball roots run deep in Harford County. She began playing tee-ball through Belcamp Recreation before continuing her development with Emmorton Recreation, the Hickory Hornets, and the Pennsylvania Chaos travel organization.

Knight is committed to building a competitive program that develops student-athletes both on and off the field. While emphasizing preparation for success at the NCAA level, she is equally dedicated to helping her players grow into strong, confident women who are prepared for success long after their playing careers end. Through a culture centered on daily improvement, accountability, and teamwork, Knight aims to ensure every student-athlete leaves Harford ready to excel in the classroom, on the field, and in life.
