    Assistant Coach

Mario Scott enters his first season (2025-2026) on the Harford Community College men’s basketball staff, bringing international experience, proven program success and a strong background in player development to the Fighting Owls.

Born and raised in Germany in a bilingual household, Scott provides a unique global perspective to the game. He brings 13 years of coaching experience at both the high school and AAU levels. Most recently, Scott served as the head boys basketball coach at C. Milton Wright High School, where he led the Mustangs to a 40–10 record over two seasons, highlighted by a run to the Maryland State semifinals. Under his leadership, the program experienced success on and off the court, as C. Milton Wright became the first high school in Maryland to host a “Coaches vs. Cancer” game and the team maintained an impressive 3.9 cumulative GPA during his tenure.

Scott has also spent more than a decade with the Mid Atlantic Select AAU organization, where he has been deeply involved in player development. During his time with the program, over 100 athletes have advanced to play at the collegiate level. Several former players have reached the professional ranks, including NBA players Luka Garza, Josh Hart, and Malcolm Miller. His work has also supported the growth of several standout Harford County athletes, such as CJ Keyser (Wichita State / NC Central / Old Dominion), Dajuan Madden (Prairie View A&M), Jordan Stiemke (Loyola University) and Mason Ellison (University of Delaware). Scott is a certified skills development trainer and has worked with players domestically and internationally.

As a player, Scott competed at South Carolina State University following a distinguished high school career overseas. He was a two-time All-Europe selection and a member of the Department of Defense All-Star Team composed of the top American high school players in Europe. He led Giessen American High School to a European Championship prior to his collegiate career.

Scott holds a B.A. in Professional English from South Carolina State University, an MBA from Loyola University and a Sports Industry Management master’s degree from Georgetown University. In addition to his coaching career, he has built a distinguished 20+ year corporate career at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, where he currently serves as the Organizational Business Lead for the Global Customer Engagement Team (GCET).

Committed to community service and youth mentorship, Scott serves on the Harford County Public Schools Board of Ethics, the Harford/Cecil County Boys and Girls Club Board and the School of Business Advisory Board at South Carolina State University.

He resides in Bel Air, Maryland, with his wife, Safiyyah. They have two children, Javel and Sakai, and are proud grandparents to Aubree.
