Box Score
BEL AIR, Md.—Freshman Steve Landreth (Churchville, Md./Harford Tech) scored on a breakaway during the 94th minute to give Harford a 2-1 overtime win over Howard on Thursday afternoon at Harford Stadium.
Landreth took a feed from sophomore Curtis Ballard (Pylesville, Md./Harford Christian) into the open field and fired at the 93:59 mark to clinch the overtime win for the Fighting Owls (5-7-1, 3-6-0 MDJUCO).
The Dragons (2-7-0, 2-6-0 MDJUCO) drew blood first with an unassisted goal off a scramble by Promise Ebinum in the 69th minute, but Harford answered less than 10 minutes later at the 77:24 mark when freshman Markos Katsaros (Fallston, Md./Fallston) collected a ball from sophomore Lav Shabani (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) and fired into the lower left corner to knot the score at one goal apiece.
The tie would carry over into overtime from the regulation 90:00, which saw freshman Scott Covelly (Bel Air, Md./Fallston) come out firing as he recorded a shot at the 90:42 mark. Not to be outdone, IK Mbonu took a shot on target at the 92:28 mark, but it was Landreth's attempt at 93:59 that would determine the outcome.
The Dragons held a 19-11 advantage on shots and 3-1 advantage on corner kicks, while freshman goalie Taylor Dize (Bel Air, Md./Salem Christian) totaled seven saves to Calvin Kirkwood's five.
The Fighting Owls return to action this Saturday when they host Salem for a 12:00 p.m. match at Harford Stadium.
