FREDERICK, Md.—Five different players scored as the Harford women's soccer team rolled over Frederick, 5-0, on Thursday afternoon at Frederick CC.
The Fighting Owls (6-3-0, 4-1-0 MDJUCO) have won their last three straight games and outshot the Cougars (2-7-0, 1-5-0 MDJUCO) 15-5, with all of those shots coming from Ashley Polvi Cross.
Freshman Lauren Ward (Bel Air, Md./Fallston) notched the first goal and eventual game-winner around the 21st minute with an unassisted shot from 10 yards out.
Freshman Tiffany Runk (Abingdon, Md./Kenwood) made it a 2-0 advantage at the 38th minute, after taking a feed from freshman Jamie Settle (Havre de Grace, Md./Rising Sun) and firing from about 12 yards out.
The Owls took the 2-0 lead into halftime, and sophomore Terry Buontempo (Nottingham, Md./Perry Hall) notched her first goal of the season after taking a cross from Runk and sneaking it right through the keeper's legs in the 76th minute.
Freshman Jessica Spalt (Joppa, Md./Eastern Tech) also tallied her first of the season as she put her ball just over the head of the keeper in the 86th minute.
Sophomore Eliza Burk (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) scored the final goal for Harford as she collected a ball from Runk, beat a Cougar defender and fired from 18 yards out to give the Owls the 5-0 win.
Harford sophomore goalie Jessica Stumpf (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) totaled two saves in the 90:00, while Becca Bowers corralled seven, but the Owls held a 2-1 advantage over the Cougars in corner kicks.
The Fighting Owls return to action on Monday, Oct.6 when they travel to face Cecil at 3:30 p.m.
