BEL AIR, Md.—The Harford men's soccer team lost a heartbreaker, 1-0, to the College of Southern Maryland on Wednesday night at Harford Stadium.
The lone goal of the game came just 6:45 into the first half as Marco Gaudio was awarded a penalty kick, beating freshman goalkeeper Taylor Dize to the left side.
The Fighting Owls (2-3-0, 1-2-0 MDJUCO) had no answer on the offensive side of the field, tallying just three total shots to the Hawks' (4-1-1, 1-0-1 MDJUCO) 18 shots.
Freshmen midfielders Santiago Meija and Brian Six and freshman forward Sean Conlon each tallied one shot each, while Dize stopped eight of the Hawks' nine shots on goal. His counterpart, George Mansaray only tallied two saves.
Southern Maryland also held a 4-1 advantage over Harford in corner kicks and the Owls picked up the only penalty as Six was tabbed with a yellow card in the 85th minute.
The Fighting Owls return to competition on Sept. 13 when they travel to face Rockville at 12:00 p.m.
