BEL AIR, Md.—The Harford men's soccer team dropped its third straight, falling, 2-0, to CCBC-Essex on Tuesday night at Harford Stadium.
The Fighting Owls (2-5, 1-4 MDJUCO) managed just two shots, one in each period, and could not hold off the Knights' (5-0, 3-0 MDJUCO) offense, which totaled 13 shots, nine of which came as Essex was playing with 10 players after Matt Wilson drew a red card in the 41st minute.
Freshman Brian Six attempted both of Harford's shots, while freshman goalie Taylor Dize made five saves.
Lee Hendley started the scoring off for the Knights, taking a pass around the 18-yard line and dribbling through a slew of Owl defenders to tap it in past Dize just a few yards out at the 22:48 mark.
Less than 20 minutes later, Essex would suffer a minor setback as Wilson would be ejected with a red card at the 40:15 mark forcing the Knights to play with 10 men for the remainder of the game.
That did not slow the Essex offense, however, as they attempted eight shots in the second half, compared to five in the first half, including David Stroud's ball of a scramble in the 87th minute which gave the Knights a 2-0 lead.
Both Dize and Essex goalie Richard Willis went the distance, with Dize corralling five balls and Willis none, while Essex held a 5-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Two Harford players were served with yellow cards as Six and freshman Steve Landreth picked up cards in the 51st and 69th minutes. Stephen Ehatt also earned an additional card for the Knights as he was given a yellow card in the 71st minute.
The Fighting Owls return to action on Thursday when they travel to Brookdale for a 4:00 p.m. game.
