LA PLATA, Md.—The Harford women's volleyball team took the first set, but eventually fell to No. 16 Southern Maryland, 3-1 (23-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-17), on Tuesday night in La Plata, Md.

The Fighting Owls (2-6, 0-3 MDJUCO) have lost their last three straight matches and hit just .077 for the match on Tuesday night, with a total of 22 kills and 18 errors on 52 attacks.

The Hawks (14-4, 3-0 MDJUCO) have won four of their last five matches and are undefeated in the Maryland JuCo Conference.

Freshman Selena Ortega-Marvel led the Owls with 12 kills in the match, while sophomore Brielle Webster added 15 assists and sophomore Claire Sheldon totaled 10 digs.

The Fighting Owls return to action on Friday when they travel to Allegany for a 2:00 p.m. match.
