BEL AIR, Md.—The Harford men's soccer team broke a four-game winless streak with a 3-0 win over Delaware Tech-Terry on Saturday afternoon at Harford Stadium.
The Fighting Owls (3-5-1) broke a 254:00 streak without a goal as freshman defender Shane Springer (Fallston, Md./Fallston) gathered a ball from freshman midfielder Santiago Meija (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and fired from 15 yards out into the upper right of the goal to give Harford a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute.
The Owls' last goal before Springer's score came at the 53 minute mark against Montgomery College-Rockville on Sept. 13.
Harford would take a 2-0 lead into the half after freshman midfielder Brian Six (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) fired a one-timer off a Hawks (2-3-0) defender from eight yards out at the 37:50 mark.
Freshman defender Kenny Wilson (Edgewood, Md./Harford Tech) added the final tally of the game, heading the corner from Meija into the upper right in the 64th minute to give the Owls the 3-0 win.
Freshman keeper Taylor Dize (Bel Air, Md./Salem Christian) faced 12 shots in 90:00 from the Hawks, making four saves while Trevor Loeshar totaled three in 90:00.
Del Tech held a 5-4 advantage over Harford on corners, while Harford picked up two yellow cards, one at 44:08 by freshman forward Steve Landreth (Churchville, Md./Harford Tech) and one by sophomore defender Lav Shabani (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) at 74:39. The Hawk's Zach Williams also earned a yellow at 44:08.
The Fighting Owls return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 24 when they travel to Frederick for a 3:00 p.m. match, before returning home for a 7:00 p.m. match against CCBC-Catonsville on Friday, Sept. 26.
