Harford Women's Soccer Attempts 33 Shots, Downs Gloucester, 1-0

Box Score

BEL AIR, Md.
—The Harford women's soccer team attempted 33 shots, 19 of them on goal, but only managed to sneak one past the keeper as the Fighting Owls (5-3-0) defeated Gloucester, 1-0, on Monday afternoon at Harford Stadium.

The Roadrunners (2-6-0) attempted just four shots of their own, but their keepers were superb in the game as Kelly Basile totaled eight saves in the first half and Alexandrea Simmons tacked on another 10 in the second for a grand total of 18 saves.

Sophomore defender Eliza Burk (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) notched the game-winner after freshman forward Lauren Ward (Bel Air, Md./Fallston) split the Gloucester defense on the right side and passed through the center, allowing Burk to bury the ball in the upper left corner at the 77:43 mark.

The Owls also held an 8-3 advantage on corner kicks, but sophomore goalie Jessica Stumpf (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) only managed one save in the 90:00, facing just four total shots as she recorded her fourth shutout of the season.

The Fighting Owls will next embark on a three-game roadstand, beginning with Wednesday's contest against Southern Maryland at 3:00 p.m.
