Harford Volleyball Drops Season Finale on the Road, 3-0, to Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, Md.
—The Harford women's volleyball team wrapped up the 2009 season on Friday as it fell to Hagerstown, 3-0 (25-8, 25-14, 25-10), at the ARCC.  Harford struggled on the floor, committing 27 errors on 63 attacks for a -.159 team hitting percentage.

Freshman Lydia Zeller (Fawn Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) led the Fighting Owls (4-23, 2-10 MDJUCO) with eight kills for the match, also adding three digs and a service ace, while freshman Sarah Baker (Joppa, Md./Joppatowne) totaled five kills, three aces and three digs.  Rebecca Morgan led the Hawks with 11 kills, five digs and five aces.

Harford took an early 3-2 lead in set one, but Hagerstown would see Morgan serve for seven consecutive points to give the Hawks a 10-3 lead on the way the 24-8 set win.  Neither team had much momentum In the second set, as Hagerstown held just a four-point advantage, 17-13, before winning the serve back and seeing Leah MacSwain serve for six straight points for a set point chance, 24-13, on the way to the 25-14 set win. 

The third set saw Hagerstown build a five-point, 6-1, lead, but four straight Harford points, including three behind freshman Rebecca Wysocki's serve put the Owls right back in it, 6-5, only to have the Hawks tack on six straight for a 12-5 lead on the way the 25-10 set and match win.
