Three Players Score Double-Digits as Harford Men's Basketball Falls to Anne Arundel, 82-71

ARNOLD, Md.—The Harford men's basketball team took a four-point deficit into halftime, but couldn't overcome Anne Arundel, as it fell on the road, 82-71 to the Pioneers on Saturday.

 

The Fighting Owls (8-16, 3-11 MDJUCO) have lost two in a row and drop into a tie for second-to-last in the conference with the College of Southern Maryland, while the Pioneers (17-8, 10-5 MDJUCO) are currently fourth in the league.

 

Freshman Troy Burgan (Akron, Ohio/North) was one of three Harford players in double-digits as he led the Owls with 19 points, shooting 9-for-12 from the field.  Freshman Lionel Perkins (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) added 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting, including 3-for-5 from behind the arc while grabbing five rebounds and freshman Jasper Holleman (Richmond, Va./Matoaca) totaled 13 points on 3-for-4 shooting, 7-for-11 from the line and dished out five assists.

 

Kevin Coates put up a double-double for the Pioneers with 20 points and 12 rebounds and Kendrick Maybank added 19 points and seven rebounds for Anne Arundel.

 

The Owls struggled on the boards, picking up just 27 rebounds to the Pioneers' 50 and were outscored 43-36 in the second half on the way to the 82-71 loss.

 

The Fighting Owls return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 11 when they travel to Catonsville for an 8:00 p.m. game.
